What is an Auth Code?

Purpose
Auth codes:
- Verify domain ownership
- Authorize transfers
- Prevent unauthorized moves
- Required by ICANN
Getting Your Auth Code
- Log in to your account
- Go to domain dashboard
- Click "Transfer Out"
- View/copy auth code
- Should be kept private
- Valid for 30 days
- Can be regenerated
- Sent to registrant email
- Unlock domain
- Get auth code
- Go to new registrar
- Initiate transfer
- Enter auth code
- Confirm transfer
- Generate secure codes
- Email code to registrant
- Allow regeneration
- Track code requests
- 60-day lock after transfer-in
- 60-day lock after registrant update
- Auth code doesn't override locks
- ICANN requirement
